You are currently browsing the Press and PR category.
It has taken longer than anticipated to log, categories and sort through the images we have on file from the last 10 years.
The gallery is now almost ready to go live and will be an added bonus to the Escape Photography website. With various categories this will be a powerful selling tool for Escape Photography as we will be able to have a full online catalogue of saleable images.
It will also have private viewing areas for clients who want immediate access to commisioned work, great for viewing images immediately.
During the last couple of Months we have been working alongside the RLEF covering the filming and photography needs for the European Bowl and Shield. Travelling across Europe to places as far as, Frankurt, Prague, Belgrade and Moscow we have had the pleasure of witnessing and documenting a project to develop Rugby League across Europe. This has also given some of our staff some great opportunities to gain valuable experience working on foreign shores.
Whilst still on the subject of Rugby League we can also announce that we are now also working alongside the SRL to provide similar services. This will almost a 12 month contract to gather images and video for training and evaluation purposes a well as press. Another exciting sports project for Escape Photography

World Club Challenge Winners Melbourne Storm
The 28/02/10 saw us at Elland Road in Leeds for the Rugby League World Club Challenge. Populating our online library with up to date images is a new priority as we are providing stock and news images via the website. With a faciltiy to view images from events such as this going live at some point this month we needed some high profile event stock images, alongside supplying images to publications who had expressed an interest in publishing pictures from the game.
Ian Edmondson our chief photographer was at pitch side to document the evenings action. The weather wasn’t great and the lighting was provided by stadium floodlights so high iso and low shutter speeds were needed, however the canon 1DMK IV coped extremely well once again.
Leeds started well but at the end of a close match it was Melbourne Storm who edged the win.
We have a selection of images from the game that can be used for editorial or press.
Images can be viewed here for editorial and press(A gallery on our sister site, whilst we add our new online library).
Contact us for passwords to view the galleries.
Images will go on general release in April
The arrival of the Canon 1D MKIV has meant a few days testing the camera on not so important shoots. Last night 26/02/10 the camera was put to work in earnest with a sports shoot under floodlight at The Willows, the home of Salford City Reds.

We were covering a Rugby League Superleague game between Salford and Bradford Bulls. Having used the MKIII I was a little aprenhesive as to how the MKIV would cope with the low light and action of the sport.
Left is a full shot of Malcolm Alker with a crop next to it iso 2000 1/320sec, f5.6 at 536mm
Initial test shots indicated that exposures were going to be difficult and even though the MKIV has high ISO values I was dubious to push it past 1600 although I did try
one or two shots at 2000.
As soon as the game kicked off I noticed a marked improvement in the autofocus of the MKIV over the MKIII. The autofucus wasn’t hunting the same and I was able to concentrate on the action rather than making sure the camera was focusing correctly. The images on the rear of the screen were much clearer and it was posssible to ascertain which were the ‘bad’ images from the good a lot quicker. On zooming into the images the amount of grain could be seen however this is not a problem as it was another improvement over previous models and I was quite happy to keep shooting at around 1600 – 2000 iso.
