It has taken longer than anticipated to log, categories and sort through the images we have on file from the last 10 years.
The gallery is now almost ready to go live and will be an added bonus to the Escape Photography website. With various categories this will be a powerful selling tool for Escape Photography as we will be able to have a full online catalogue of saleable images.
It will also have private viewing areas for clients who want immediate access to commisioned work, great for viewing images immediately.
During the last couple of Months we have been working alongside the RLEF covering the filming and photography needs for the European Bowl and Shield. Travelling across Europe to places as far as, Frankurt, Prague, Belgrade and Moscow we have had the pleasure of witnessing and documenting a project to develop Rugby League across Europe. This has also given some of our staff some great opportunities to gain valuable experience working on foreign shores.
Whilst still on the subject of Rugby League we can also announce that we are now also working alongside the SRL to provide similar services. This will almost a 12 month contract to gather images and video for training and evaluation purposes a well as press. Another exciting sports project for Escape Photography
Once again we are back at Salfords ground the Willows, this time capturing images of a team from Perpignan in France, The Catalan Dragons. They didnt have a great time against Wigan last week with a heavy deafeat.
This game between the bottom two clubs proved to be a tug of war until 15 mins in to the second half when Catalans power proved to much for Salford.
Images for press are available here

On the 27th February 2010 we attended The Ontrack Dog Training Centre to take images for Cath Phillips BSc Animal Behaviour and Training. Cath trains dogs for the Police as well as holding training sessions for puppies , working trials, and agility alongside behavioural clinics for dogs with ‘issues’
Cath is currently in the process of writing a book and this was a good way of seeing how images would look from one of her training sessions as well as providing a service for her clients.
There were a number of activities for the dogs and handlers to try, socialisation, agility and control. Caths ‘Goodbuddy‘ sessions allow a safe and controlled enviroment for dogs with issues to be brought into contact with other animals and people that under normal conditions their owners would not wish to attempt.
Its a great place to take young and inexperienced dogs to expand their socialisation skills making them a more rounded and controlable pet which with the recent news about ‘dangerous dogs‘ should be seen as a good thing.
We look forward to working with Cath more closely to illustrate her forth coming book.

World Club Challenge Winners Melbourne Storm
The 28/02/10 saw us at Elland Road in Leeds for the Rugby League World Club Challenge. Populating our online library with up to date images is a new priority as we are providing stock and news images via the website. With a faciltiy to view images from events such as this going live at some point this month we needed some high profile event stock images, alongside supplying images to publications who had expressed an interest in publishing pictures from the game.
Ian Edmondson our chief photographer was at pitch side to document the evenings action. The weather wasn’t great and the lighting was provided by stadium floodlights so high iso and low shutter speeds were needed, however the canon 1DMK IV coped extremely well once again.
Leeds started well but at the end of a close match it was Melbourne Storm who edged the win.
We have a selection of images from the game that can be used for editorial or press.
Images can be viewed here for editorial and press(A gallery on our sister site, whilst we add our new online library).
Contact us for passwords to view the galleries.
Images will go on general release in April
The arrival of the Canon 1D MKIV has meant a few days testing the camera on not so important shoots. Last night 26/02/10 the camera was put to work in earnest with a sports shoot under floodlight at The Willows, the home of Salford City Reds.

We were covering a Rugby League Superleague game between Salford and Bradford Bulls. Having used the MKIII I was a little aprenhesive as to how the MKIV would cope with the low light and action of the sport.
Left is a full shot of Malcolm Alker with a crop next to it iso 2000 1/320sec, f5.6 at 536mm
Initial test shots indicated that exposures were going to be difficult and even though the MKIV has high ISO values I was dubious to push it past 1600 although I did try
one or two shots at 2000.
As soon as the game kicked off I noticed a marked improvement in the autofocus of the MKIV over the MKIII. The autofucus wasn’t hunting the same and I was able to concentrate on the action rather than making sure the camera was focusing correctly. The images on the rear of the screen were much clearer and it was posssible to ascertain which were the ‘bad’ images from the good a lot quicker. On zooming into the images the amount of grain could be seen however this is not a problem as it was another improvement over previous models and I was quite happy to keep shooting at around 1600 – 2000 iso.
Well now the website is well underway it is time to get back out on the image hunt. With a new gallery coming soon it is time to start collecting new and up to date images to populate the sports category.
We are starting with Rugby League.
Following our appointment to the RLEF in 2009 as official photographers and videographers to the European Bowl, Shield and Cup we have maintained our contact with the RFL and can now boast full RFL accreditaion for ANY RFL game. To view some of our previous work you can view the RLEF website that is streaming video highlights from the games we covered which were situated around Europe and the Mediteranean.
On Friday 26th February 2010 we will be at The Willows to photograph the game between Salford City Reds and the Bradford Bulls.
On Sunday 28th february 2010 we have accreditation for the World Club Challenge at Elland Road between Leeds Rhinos and Melbourne Storm which is shaping up to be an absolute cracking game.
ALL IMAGES will be available for viewing within an hour of the game, however if there is a more pressing need to have the images wired directly from the touchline please contact us before hand.
Here at Escape Photography we are working on a stock image library. This will help all our clients in several ways.
Firstly it will provide a range of images that can be chosen ‘off the shelf’ by the viewer for delivery via, e-mail,download or CD/DVD through the post.We have a variety of images that can be found by category or via a keyword search. We have a large catalogue of images so in the meantime if you have any specific requirements please e-mail us
It will also provide ‘hidden galleries that will require a password and username for clients to view their shoot or event.
We hope to have this up and running by the end of April.
.
Escape Photography have just taken delivery of a new Canon 1DmkIV.
The camera will help bridge the gap between our sports photography and commercial work.
This is the flagship camera of Canon’s sports range, providing the fastest frames per second (10) alongside a massive pixel count. Also added to this is the ability to shoot hd video footage giving an extra dimension to our ability to respond to news items.
Straight out of the box the camera appears to be awesome and we are looking forward to putting it through its spaces in the coming weeks.
After the recent bad weather disrupted the league we are back on track filming the games for the Leeds Met University Rugby League Team. Paul Fletcher the head coach asked us to help out at the beginning of the season after seeing our previous work for the RFL, RLEF and Student Rugby League.
The footage of the games is used for evaluation purposes and provides a useful tool for progressing the development of Student Rugby League at Leeds Met.
